ApproveCart B2B docs
Requirements
ApproveCart extends an existing Shopify B2B setup. Confirm these platform and user prerequisites before configuring approval policy.
Store requirements
- A Shopify store with the Shopify B2B features needed for companies and company locations.
- Shopify's new customer accounts, not classic customer accounts, for the buyer sign-in workflow.
- At least one Shopify B2B company and company location for testing.
- A storefront and checkout configuration where the app's buyer and validation surfaces can run.
Buyer requirements
- The customer is signed in through new customer accounts.
- The customer is associated with a Shopify B2B company and company location.
- The customer has a buyer role in the relevant company when approval should apply.
Ordinary retail customers who are not associated with a B2B company are outside the ApproveCart purchasing workflow.
Approver requirements
- The approver is active.
- The approver is a manager for the same company as the buyer.
- The approver can access the relevant ApproveCart approver experience.
Plan requirements
| Capability | ApproveCart plan |
|---|---|
| Core approvals, spend limits, company approvers, exact-cart checkout validation | Starter or Growth |
| More than 50 new requests per rolling 30 days | Growth |
| Product, collection, company, or location rules | Growth |
| Approver self-management and configurable approval expiry | Growth |
Configuration-specific checks
- Multiple currencies: test every currency; the spend-limit comparison has no explicit exchange-rate conversion.
- Discounts: test automatic and manual discounts because a changed subtotal changes the protected cart.
- Custom item properties: add a separate control if those values are material; they are not part of the approval fingerprint.
- Growth rules: verify matching and non-matching carts for every active rule.
Recommended test users
Create or identify one buyer and one active manager in the same test company. Keep another manager or merchant administrator available to correct role assignment if the first setup prevents access.
